Best-selling novelist Françoise Bourdin has died
The successful novelist Françoise Bourdin, one of the most widely read in France with more than 15 million books sold, died Sunday at the age of 70, the publishing group Editis announced on Monday to AFP.
Unknown to the literary world, Françoise Bourdin is the author of nearly fifty books which have met with immense success.
“I extend my most sincere condolences to the family of Françoise Bourdin, to her two daughters, Fabienne and Frédérique, to her grandchildren, I am thinking of all the teams, from Belfond, from Plon and from Pocket, who have worked with her for so many years, as well as to its millions of loyal readers“, said the group’s general manager, Michèle Benbunan.
Born in 1952 in Paris, Françoise Bourdin was raised by artistic parents surrounded by crinolines and stage costumes. She will discover Baudelaire, Proust, Tolstoy and the others in her father’s library but it is in everyday life and the people who cross it that she will draw her inspiration, informs her website.
Among his favorite themes, we find the role of family and friendship in personal construction, but also ecology and the preservation of biodiversity. If his work sometimes remains ignored by the literary world, this label of “literature feels good” “did not exist a few years ago. But I think the reader has always wanted this“, confided the novelist last July to Ouest France.
