Capcom stops amateur remakes of Resident Evil… – Capcom, Invader Studios – News

In August 2015, fans were working on Resident Evil 2 Reborn, a remake unofficial version of the 1998 game on Unreal Engine 4, when Capcom kindly asked them to stop the project. Had the latter sensed the public’s enthusiasm for a return to the game and motivated him to work on what would become Resident Evil 2 of 2019? In any case, on their side the fine team had left for something else by forming the development studio Invader Studios and creating the game Daymare: 1998, strongly inspired by the ssurvival horror that they cherished so much. The title having seen some success, it allowed them to work on the sequel or prequel Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle still in development.

One would have thought that this misadventure had something to cool the ardor of those who were seriously itching to try the experience again, especially after the release of the remake of Resident Evil 3 in 2020, then the announcement of that of Resident Evil 4 now scheduled for March 24, 2023. In fact no, there again fans developed two very promising parallel projects, Resident Evil 1 Remake and Resident Evil Code Veronica Remake both moving to third person from then on. Again the Japanese publisher left the drafts of amateur video games for a long time to germinate before the ax fell, and it demanded the cessation of development pure and simple for both. Capcom was more incisive this time, threatening them with legal action.

Does this mean that there would be the possibility that there are redone plans for the first Resident Evil and Resident Evil: Code Veronica? We don’t have the answer, but in the meantime, we would very much like to wish amateur developers to take the same path as those who became Invader Studios.
