Death of a teenager in Ougrée: already passed through prison, the suspect had also set fire to the apartment of his ex-companion

The man found hanged after killing a teenage girl in a Seraing wood has, according to SudInfo, made 4 stays in prison and one of the convictions he received did not appear in his criminal record.

He had received a 5-year prison sentence suspended on probation for the remainder of the preventive detention for having set fire to the apartment of his ex-partner.

As indicated by our colleagues from SudInfo, the man was however never subject to the control of the probation commission, which should have ensured the respect of several conditions within the framework of the reprieve which he had obtained.

While representing the ex-companion of Olivier T., Mr. Moor worried about the respect of the conditions which had been established by the court. “Among the various conditions that the defendant had to respect, there was in particular that of finding work“, explains Stéphanie Moor, who wanted to check what was going on, with a view to the compensation of her client who had been ordered. “I contacted the eupenoise probation commission to see what was going on and to check if Mr. had a job or if, at the very least, he had done some research.“, explains the lawyer. “I was told that we had no knowledge of this file!

An answer that worried the lawyer. “I questioned the Eupen public prosecutor’s office. Turns out that conviction didn’t show up on his criminal record.“, regrets the lawyer who does not understand how such a mistake could have been made.

If it is now clear that the ex-girlfriend of Olivier T., and the other victims, will not be compensated following his death, Stéphanie Moor wonders if the tragedy that occurred on Friday in Ougrée could not have avoided if real monitoring of probation conditions had been put in place.

The results of the teen’s autopsy are expected today.
