Death of Sourour, 46, in a cell of the federal police station: the first conclusions of the investigation have fallen
”Based on the initial findings and the provisional autopsy report, it would appear that there was no third-party intervention”explains Willemien Baert, spokesperson for the Brussels public prosecutor’s office. “Among other investigative duties, Committee P analyzed camera footage of the cell complex. A toxicological analysis was ordered. Final results will be available in the coming weeks.”
A woman in her forties, who worked in associations, was found dead on Thursday morning in a cell of the “zonal guard” of the Brussels-Capital-Ixelles police, rue Royale. The victim had been arrested during the night from Wednesday to Thursday in the Châtelain district, in Ixelles.
An investigation is underway into the circumstances of the arrest and detention of the forties. “The prosecution has been notified and ordered the first investigative duties”, said the Brussels public prosecutor’s office. “The magistrate, the federal police laboratory and the medical examiner descended on the spot. An autopsy has been requested. According to the first investigation duties, the death could correspond to a suicide”, he clarified. A thesis refuted by the family of the victim.
In two years, this is the third death to be deplored in this police station of the “zonal guard” of the Brussels-Capital-Ixelles police,
