‘Green Book’ actor Frank Vallelonga Jr. is dead, his body dumped in the street | People
Sad end for actor Frank Vallelonga Jr, 60, seen in particular in the Oscar-winning film “Green Book”. His body was found on the street in New York on Monday after being thrown from a car. According to the first findings, the man succumbed to an overdose, report the American media.
“Green Book” directed by Peter Farrelly and released in 2018, tells the true story of a 1962 tour of the southern states by black pianist Don Shirley and his white driver and bodyguard Tony “Lip” Vallelonga, the Frank’s father. In the film, the latter plays the role of Uncle Rudy. His brother Nick also participated in the film as a screenwriter.
On Monday, the lifeless body of Frank Vallelonga Jr was found in an industrial area of the Bronx around 3:30 a.m. His driver, Steven Smith, 35, was arrested. CCTV footage reportedly shows him dumping the body in the street. “The guy was already dead. He overdosed. I have nothing to do with it,” he assured investigators. Vallelonga Jr’s body showed no signs of injury, according to the autopsy. The investigation is continuing.
His father, better known as Tony Lip, died in 2013. He notably played the role of Carmine Lupertazzi in the series “The Sopranos”.
