Here are the two future national parks of Wallonia

By Michel De Muelenaere
Ihad to wait, but the news finally broke. Officially postponed on Thursday, due to congestion by the Walloon government, the designation of the two future “national parks” in the south of the country was taken on Friday morning: it crowns the project “in Entre-Sambre-et-Meuse” and that of the “Valley of the Semois”. The Hautes-Fagnes and the Forêt d’Anlier will have to make do with a consolation prize. The decision of the Walloon government respects the classification established by a group of nine independent experts.
The creation of national parks in Wallonia is a first. The only Belgian park is currently located in Limburg: the Hoge Kempen park which extends over 12,000 hectares.
