LPrime Minister Alexander De Croo convened a government meeting in a select committee on Saturday at 10 a.m. to take stock of the ongoing discussions with Engie on the extension of the Tihange 3 and Doel 4 reactors, we learned from several sources. governmental. On March 18, the government agreed after bitter discussions on the extension of two reactors beyond 2025, the year of the end of nuclear power in Belgium according to a 2003 law confirmed in 2015. This decision led to the opening of negotiations with the operator of the Belgian nuclear fleet, the French group Engie. These resulted in a first phase in a letter of intent in July which outlined the framework of a future agreement.

The said agreement is expected in principle before the end of the year. At this time, it is not yet clear whether there is an agreement or not.
