Official MIUI 14: more efficiency, privacy and… chats!

SoftwareTogether with the Xiaomi 13 and a series of devices including the Watch S2 , Xiaomi also formalized yesterday the new MIUI 14 , which promises interesting improvements, especially from the point of view of efficiency and privacy. In terms of looks, MIUI 14 doesn’t offer a much different experience and users will feel right at home, but the main changes are under the hood. The most important novelty concerns the optimization of the space occupied by the operating system, thanks mainly to having reduced the system applications (not removable) to eight. This made it possible to resize MIUI and save 1.5 GB. But Xiaomi did not stop there and also made a series of changes to its software, which on the one hand reduced memory consumption, and on the other hand to introduce optimizations for third-party applications that make them faster and smoother. As we noted last week, the new MIUI also brings important news from a privacy perspective. Indeed, the company claims that a number of system scenarios (over 30), including

-image recognition
– extract text from photos
– subtitles for video calls
-the record
– the translation
– and more

They will be processed locally (on the phone), so without sending data to Xiaomi’s servers. The intention is to keep user activity private, which seems like a big step forward for a Chinese company. Opposite in nature, at least from a conceptual point of view, is the other novelty of MIUI 14, which receives version 6.0 of XiaoAI Assistant . Mainly oriented to the Chinese market, the owner assistant now learns user habits and makes a series of recommendations, providing shortcuts to payment and transport codes in advance, as well as multi-functional reminders for planning, smart home, travel and more. And what about cats? As we said, the aesthetic innovations of MIUI 14 are not many, but Xiaomi has introduced “Cute Things”, interactive chat avatars and more that can be added to the screen to beautify and enhance it. make it more original. More concretely, users can also choose from four different icon sizes, along with new widgets, customizable folders and more.

In addition to showcasing the features of the new interface, Xiaomi also released the official device release schedule in China, which will start from January 2023. Of course, the latest devices will be updated first, i.e. Xiaomi 12S Ultra, Xiaomi 12S Pro, Xiaomi 12S, Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12 Pro, Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi MIX Fold 2, Redmi K50 Pro, Redmi K50, Redmi K50 Supreme Edition, Redmi K50 Gaming Edition. As for the global release, it should follow a similar schedule to China, and we consider that some devices have come to us with Poco branding (eg Redmi K50 Gaming like Poco F4 GT).
