One Piece Odyssey: the perfect video game to wait for the conclusion of the cult manga? – Video test
Last year, the One Piece manga celebrated its 25th anniversary. Bandai Namco took the opportunity to unveil One Piece Odyssey, a JRPG offering an unpublished story in the universe created by Eiichiro Oda. Between novelties and fan-service, is this the ultimate One Piece game? The answer in video.
After One Piece: Pirate Warriors and One Piece: World Seeker, Bandai Namco is trying a new adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s famous manga with One Piece Odyssey. At the helm, this time we have ILCA, a Japanese studio that has worked on the Pokémon Sparkling Diamond and Sparkling Pearl and Dragon Quest XI remakes. And inevitably, we feel the influence of this last experience in this JRPG with a tactical aspect. We therefore end up with complex and interesting fights, but which lose their flavor over the hours. In general, One Piece Odyssey is full of good ideas but offers an experience that is still too heavy to establish itself as the ultimate One Piece game. Bandai Namco still signs a more interesting game than its predecessors with an enticing formula that portends great things for the future.
