Pokémon Scarlet and Purple TCG’s first expansion marks the return of Pokémon-ex

Here comes the new expansion of the Pokémon Trading Card Game, Scarlet and Violetinspired by video games Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Purplecame out recently. The expansion Scarlet and Violet Pokémon TCG will be available from March 31, 2023.

This first extension of the series Scarlet and Violetunveiled at the 2022 Pokémon World Championships, brand the return of the Pokémon-ex game mechanics. Pokémon-ex will appear at all Evolution levels and will have high HP, as well as powerful attacks and Abilities. However, when a Pokémon-ex is knocked out, it offers two Prize cards instead of one.

The Pokémon Company International also provided some improvements to the style of the cardswhich will be introduced with the extension Scarlet and Violet. The yellow border on Pokémon TCG cards will be replaced with a gray border like on Japanese cards. As a result, the Pokémon TCG experience will be more consistent across the world and the artwork will be more prominent.

And these are not the only changes: the name of the Trainer card subcategory (Supporter, Object or Stadium) will be written at the top left of the card, in order to be easier to see in the players’ hand and players; an Energy symbol will be added to the bottom right of base Energy cards to make them easier to track, and expansion symbols will be replaced with expansion codes and language codes on all cards.
