Pregnancy can be considered for women with breast cancer
An international study followed hundreds of young women with hormone-dependent breast cancer. The results show that they can interrupt their hormone therapy during pregnancy, without an increased risk of relapse.

VSvery year in Belgium, 10,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer. It is estimated that around 20% of them are pregnant while still of childbearing age, of which 5% are under 40 years old. This was the case of Sandra, who learned that she had breast cancer at 33: “As it was detected early, I had no fears about my recovery. On the other hand, what was the hardest for me was the fear of not being able to have children, “says the young woman treated at the Jules Bordet Institute, whose desire for pregnancy has nevertheless been fulfilled, even twice. “The message I would like to convey to all women who are going through this difficult ordeal of cancer is to remain optimistic, positive and to believe in science: today there are many solutions to be able to conceive. a child, despite the illness,” insists the young mother.
