The engagement of Amaury de Bourbon-Parme and Pélagie de Mac Mahon
At a time when princes increasingly marry shepherdesses – and princesses shepherds! –, marriages within the Gotha are becoming increasingly rare. That of two descendants of Louis-Philippe, next summer, will be an exception to the rule.
A direct descendant of Robert I Duke of Parma, himself a great-grandson of the King of France Charles X by his mother Louise d’Artois, Prince Amaury de Bourbon-Parme also has ancestry from Orléans through his great-grandmother. , Marie of Denmark, daughter of the Duke of Chartres, grandson of Louis-Philippe I. Very active in royalist circles, his father, Prince Charles-Emmanuel de Bourbon-Parme was one of the organizers of the solemn ceremony for the return of the heart of Louis XVII to Saint-Denis, on June 8, 2004. Amaury, born on October 30, 1991, was then only 12 years old, but it was he who had the very impressive honor of carrying the urn of the relic to the altar.
Amaury met Pélagie at the Château de Sully
Since then, the young prince has obtained a degree in hotel management from the Glion Institute in Montreux. He then collaborated with the Hyatt Hotels group, before turning to new technologies, between India and the United States. Since 2018, he has been vice president, in charge of international development, of Sun Group Global, which operates in sectors such as asset management, natural resources, green infrastructure and strategic electronics. In 2022, he ran for the legislative elections, in the 2nd district of Orne, under the banner of Reconquest! Eric Zemmour’s party. He won only 3.91% of the votes cast.
Amaury met his fiancée, Pélagie de Mac Mahon, thanks to mutual friends, during a stay at the Château de Sully, in Saône-et-Loire, the young girl’s ancestral home. We saw them together, especially during the wedding of Prince Joachim and Princess Yamsine Murat, at the Invalides, on October 22, 2022.
The Mac Mahons are descended from the ancient kings of Ireland
Sister of Maurice Marie Patrick Bacchus Humphrey de Mac Mahon, 5th Duke of Magenta, Pélagie was born there on June 24, 1990. The Mac Mahons – “Sons of the Pooh” in Gaelic – descend from the ancient kings of Ireland. A branch of the family settled in Burgundy at the end of the 17th century. She distinguished herself in particular in the person of Marshal Patrice, Count of Mac Mahon, made Duke of Magenta by Napoleon III, and 2nd President of the Third Republic, from 1873 to 1879. The latter’s son, Marie Armand Patrice, married in 1896 with Marguerite d’Orléans, sister of Marie, Amaury’s great-grandmother. Holder of an MBA from the University of Cape Town, South Africa, Pélagie is currently director of a management consulting firm based in London.
