the festival of lights returns with a great novelty

This is one of the great things to do in winter in Brussels. The Bright Festival returns in February, the time of four dates placed under the sign of illuminations and artistic installations. The opportunity to rediscover the capital from a completely different angle and, above all, to be amazed.

Other places to visit in Belgium:

If you miss the Christmas lights and the holiday atmosphere, there is always the Festival of Lights to celebrate winter one last time before saying goodbye to it once and for all. In the program ? Three routes through several Brussels municipalities, with a total of more than twenty facilities. Spectators will thus be able to admire the monumental, immersive and poetic works of Belgian and international artists.

The festival extends to a new municipality

Great novelty this year, the municipality of Schaerbeek joins the party. The opportunity for visitors who have never been there to finally set foot there, and for those who live there, to discover their town from a whole new angle. Another specificity this year, the Art Nouveau architectural heritage of Brussels will be highlighted. “Schaerbeek has a long tradition of light festivities, thanks to the Citizen Light Festival. It was therefore natural for it to join the initiative of the Festival of Light in the region and make Schaerbeek known beyond its borders. The town also has a rich Art Nouveau heritage. This event is an opportunity to showcase this heritage and I am sure that it will leave the public enthusiastic.”explains the mayor of Schaerbeek, Cécile Jodogne.

Beyond the illuminated works of art, night visits to museums and guided tours will be organized for the public. In short, enough to treat yourself to a little discovery of the streets of the capital “by night” for a multisensory experience that changes. The different works that will be on the program for these four evenings have already been unveiled on the official website of the event. Personally, we can’t wait to discover the sound and light installation in the form of bubbles on the Plaine Brusilia in Schaerbeek, or even the walk between the flowers signed by the German artist Peter Grotz, in the Parc du Cinquantenaire. Like last year, there will also be a sale of second-hand lighting on a night market of more than 300m² rue du Bois Sauvage. The opportunity to come and hunt too.

And for those who have desires elsewhere:
