Leaker Ice Universe has shared a new document on Twitter which seems to indicate that Samsung intends to offer the satellite communications in the highly anticipated Galaxy S23its next flagship. The Korean electronics giant is said to have entered into a collaboration with Iridium, a company that operates a constellation of 66 satellites in low Earth orbit for satellite telephony. Unlike GlobalStar, Apple’s partner, this access provider offers almost total coverage of the globe.

Samsung is not the first company to offer Internet and voice communications via satellite. The company is following in the footsteps of Apple and its iPhone 14, themselves slightly ahead of Huawei, with the Mate 50 and Mate 50 Pro. According to the document shared by Ice Universe, satellite communication in Samsung smartphones has been in preparation for two years already. This technology imposes very specific constraints. The biggest difficulty for the manufacturer was to design an antenna small enough to fit into their smartphone.

Samsung will offer satellite communications and joins Huawei and Apple and

In addition to being able to send text messages via satellite, the Samsung Galaxy S23 will also be able to use this type of connection to send images that are not too heavy. The iPhone 14 and Mate 50, by comparison, can only use their satellite link to send emergency messages. Even though, according to some experts, offering emergency calls via satellite is a dangerous idea, there is also no denying that this feature has helped, and will, save lives.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 is probably the most anticipated smartphone of the moment. Even if the information is not yet official, it seems that all models of the high-end smartphone from Samsung will have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. This will delight European buyers, who until now were not entitled to the Qualcomm processor. In addition to performance at the top, the latter should offer phenomenal autonomy to the Galaxy S23.
