World AIDS Day: free screenings, information, exhibitions, parties… on the program this week in Bordeaux and Agen – ARL

In Bordeaux as in Agen, various meetings will be held this week on the occasion of the 34th World AIDS Day, again at the center of the news after two years, eclipsed by covid-19.

Still in 2022, HIV continues to spread. 38.5 million people are affected by the virus globally. They would be more than 175,000 in France, including 24,000 who are unaware of it. There are a thousand in New Aquitaine, half of them in Gironde.

HIV returns to the center of attention notes Joann Plusalainet, member of the Collectif Sida 33, who had warned of a sideline when covid-19 was at the center of discussions.

Several initiatives of the Ministry of Health are to be welcomed according to Joann Plusalainet, also in charge of prevention ENIPSE (National Intervention Team in Prevention and Health). Among them, authorization for all physicians to prescribe pre-exposure prophylaxis for initiation (PrEP) to HIV or generalization of free screening of the test since the beginning of the year.

A full week around AIDS

Thursday is the 34th World AIDS Day.. The Collective and its partners will be installed from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Place de la Victoire. The unrolling of the red ribbon, the universal symbol of the fight against AIDS, 50 meters long, will be deployed at 1 p.m. and will be followed by a giant soup.




Friday, towards the right bank and Place Stalingrad for further exchanges, information and tests. Eveningrelaxation will predominate with a Bingo Drag offered at Pourquoi Pas? In the district of Saint-Jean station animated by the Cave à Kings! The evening will continue with a silent party!

Along with these meetings, the exhibition still happyhighlighting stories and portraits of women with HIV / AIDS, will be visible from December 1 to 8 at the Halles de Douves. A time of discussion on the place of women in the history of the fight against HIV / AIDS will also be offered on December 3 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the presence of Mojgan Hessamfar, infectious disease doctor at the CHU Saint André and Camille Escaich, coordinator of the POPPY system, of the association LA CASE.

In Lot-et-Garonne, AIDES 47 will also offer free screenings from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday November 29 in the premises of Planning Familial in Agen at 6 rue Chaudordy. A Bingo-Drag will also take place at the Counterpoint café-theatre, still in Agen from 7 p.m.

The next Sidaction will be held throughout France from March 31 to April 2. Various actions will be held in the region warns Joann Plusalainet who also announces that the Collectif Sida 33 will take part in the week of sexual health from May 30 to June 5.
